This is the "main" part of the conference call podcast between the 2 schools. A lot of the time is spent trying to get video up and running. I was not in the scene at all (so that they could see each other). Unfortunately the recording is only able to run for 15 minutes and the teacher did not start a new recordiing in time to get much of the interview. Students can be heard from time to time with lots of giggling. This skype is totally between the high school in Missouri and the high school in NY State.

This podcast is the early part of connecting a high school multimedia class in NY with one in Missouri. This first section is mainly teachers and myself talking back and forth and trying to get set up. Towards the end of the tape you will hear some students giggling, etc.

Below is a description of the skypecast that was done on 4/19 again with most of the NY High School Multimedia Class and myself in Tennessee. The idea was to do an intercultural exchange show attempting to link up students of similar ages. Because of the time of the day or possibly the short time of program description being on the net the actual number of international students was low. Students did not interact as much as one would like but the moderator is learning as well. Potentially it could be a way to hook up, say, a Spanish/English classroom with an English/Spanish classroom or rather students fairly quickly.

This is part 2, or really part 3 of a project that I in essence joined. I was asked by the teacher at Jackson School (a Spanish teacher) to join her class and be interviewed via Skype on April 13, 2007. Today the Jackson School in Massachusetts interviewed me via Skype and GizmoProject internet telephony about my job as a researcher at the University of Tennessee in Plant Sciences. The first half of the interview was LOST because in Skype sometimes the free Pamela recorder seems to indicate recording is happening when in reality all you get is an empty file. This happened 4 times in the semester. This particular part of the interview is a section where the teacher had me use a program called DiscoverE from Austraila. DiscoverE is basically a fancy whiteboard that enables teachers to share files, powerpoint presentations, web pages along with an audio narrative. The downside (to me) is that the audio is one way. Thus, you will hear my voice a lot but hear no interaction. All interaction is done via a chat bar along the left side of the moderator's control panel. The moderator can turn off his microphone and allow the other person(s) to speak but this is fairly inconvenient, IMHO.
